Dear Friends of Calvary,

It is hard to believe that August is almost over and we will be back in our usual routines soon. Hopefully you have had a good summer and have been able to relax, enjoy seeing friends and getting away.

SAVE THE DATE

Calvary's Annual Harvest Dinner in support of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank will be held October 4th. Information about ticket sales will follow in the next Compass and will be announced with the Outreach Minutes on September 13th.

UNUSUAL VISITORS ON THE CHURCH ROOF

This summer, it was noted that turkey vultures were enjoying gathering and sitting on our church's roof. Lyse Geldard, who took the picture, counted 11 sitting on the roof.

FALL BAZAAR

Right now, the fruits and vegetables are in-season and available. If you like to make preserves and jams, please make some extra to sell at our Fall Bazaar which is in November. Please remember to use brand new lids for the preserves and jams. We are selling to the public so we must make sure that everything meets proper standards.

If you are cleaning out cupboards or drawers, please remember that the Gently Used and Jewelry/Scarf sections would appreciate your finds.

CHAMPION

Our next meeting is Wednesday, September 9th at 1:00 - 3:30 pm. This will re-start our weekly Wednesday meetings. Our executive committee has made plans for a variety of activities and speakers for the Fall. New members are always welcome!

If you want to play pickleball beforehand, they meet in the lower hall at 11:00 am.

CALVARY CATALYST

Submissions for the next Calvary Catalyst are due Tuesday, September 8th. Early submissions are always appreciated! Please email to calvaryuc@execulink.com.

PSALM FOR THE WEEK

Psalm 67: 1 -5 from the New International Bible Translation

            May God be gracious to us and bless us

                and make his face shine on us

            so that your ways may be known on earth,

                your salvation among all nations.

            May the peoples praise you, God;

                may all the peoples praise you.

            May the nations be glad and sing for joy,

                for you rule the peoples with equity

                and guide the nations of the earth.

            May the peoples praise you, God;

                may all the people praise you.

            The land yields its harvest;

                God, our God, blesses us.

            May God bless us still,

                so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.

 PRAYER FOR THE WEEK

            God we praise you in all things, Grant us glad and blessed

            hearts as we raise our voices with our glorious Alleluias.

            May we always make it known of our love for You in all

            things.  Amen.
