Calvary Compass – March 24, 2026 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca

Dear Friends of Calvary,

This Sunday is Palm Sunday. We will be celebrating Communion and collecting a Benevolent Offering. The Sunday School children will be starting out downstairs in the Meeting Room and will come up to the sanctuary for Communion.

This Wednesday's Lenten Worship Service is at St. Andrew's Anglican Church at 7:00 pm.

The Midday Organ Recital this Thursday will feature Laurence Williams at 11:45 am. He is the organist at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Before moving to Canada, Laurence worked widely across the UK with choirs of all ages — from founding and leading children’s choirs and youth outreach programs to directing established choral societies and performing with internationally acclaimed ensembles. Throughout his career, he has been passionate about nurturing young voices, expanding access to music, and building vibrant musical communities

If you did not receive the Catalyst via email last week, call Kim to have it forwarded to you. There are also printed copies at the back of the sanctuary.

Please take note that there will be a Sunrise Easter Worship Service at McKillop Park across from Riverside UC on April 5th at 7:30am. Afterwards is a breakfast. If you plan to come for the breakfast, please let Rev. Kerry know by this Friday so he can let the people at Riverside know.

CLARIFICATION ON GREENING MINUTE

The webinar sponsored by Environmental Defense of Ontario that Lyse attended focused on the Ontario Government's lack of bottle depots. In most provinces, the money back deposit exchange encourages people to return their empties, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic containers. Although Ontario has an excellent residential blue box program, most businesses and commercial areas where food is served do not participate and all of these contribute to our landfills. Discussions regarding the re-use were interesting as well.

KIWANIS FESTIVAL

The Kiwanis Festival will be at Calvary from Tuesday, April 7th to Friday, April 24th in our sanctuary. If you enjoy music and listening to young people perform, you are welcome to come and enjoy the music. The entrance cost is minimal. The schedule will be posted on the bulletin board in the Sanctuary.

Psalm 143: 8 - 10 from the New International Version translation

Let the morning bring the word of your unfailing love,

for I have put my trust in you.

Show me the way I should go,

for to you I entrust my life.

Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,

for I hide myself in you.

Teach me to do your will,

                for you are my God;

            may your good Spirit

                lead me on level ground.

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK:

      Almighty God,

your son came into the world to free us all from sin and death.

Breathe upon us the power of your Spirit, that we may be raised

to new life in Christ and serve you in gladness all our days.

Hear our prayer through Jesus Christ our friend, teacher, and Saviour,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,

now and forever. Amen.
