Calvary Compass – October 1, 2025 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca
Dear Friends of Calvary,
Thank you to all of the people who set up for the Harvest Dinner, prepared the food, served it, cleaned up afterwards and helped organize it. The vegetarian meal was delicious, but a lot of work for everyone. It was a huge success with many great comments about the meal being heard in the lower hall.
On Sunday, October 5, we will be celebrating Worldwide Communion. A benevolent offering will be taken. The benevolent offering helps to support our Community Breakfasts and also other Outreach projects that help those in need. Following the service, there will be a Friendship Lunch, put on by our Membership and Pastoral Care Committee, in the Lower Hall. This is a sandwich lunch for the Calvary Community.
Worship Services are all live-streamed:

The program is one hour long and is free to everyone - all are invited. Following the event, a reception will be served by the UCW.
Don't miss this lovely afternoon of beautiful songs - and hope for the future!
NEW FACEBOOK GROUP
At the recent steering committee meeting of the four churches, it was decided to make a Shared Ministries Facebook group for better communication and to share each other's events.
We know that not everyone is on Facebook. and this is only one way to share events, but it's also a common place for churches to gather information for their newsletters about each other's happenings.

LONDON COMMUNITY CHAPLAINCY
Currently there is a need for breakfast items at the Chaplaincy, such as cold cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter and juice boxes. The food collected will be delivered periodically to the LCC, Southdale location and will be shared with Limberlost location as needed. The temporary location, The Allan Rush Complex in Glen Cairn neighbourhood, will no long be receiving non-perishable items.
As always, the Outreach Committee is continually grateful for the generosity of Calvary's congregation. Thank You!!

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS
Rev. Kerry would never send you a mysterious email like this one:
Hey, please respond to my email when you can. I have something to ask.
A few people have emailed or texted Rev. Kerry to say that an email arrived in their inbox and it looked suspicious. The sender was
info04903@gmail.com which is not a legitimate email address for Rev. Kerry. Please do not respond to this type of email, it is fake.
If Rev. Kerry were to send an email to you related to church business it would be from kerry.stover@calvaryunitedchurch.on.ca
Please be aware there a lot of scammers out in the internet world and Rev. Kerry is not one of them.

PSALM FOR THE WEEK
Psalm 113: 5 - 8 ( from Holman Standard Christian Bible Translation)
Who is like Yahmeh our God-
the One enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the garbage pile
in order to seat them with nobles-
with nobles of His people.
He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Hallelujah!
PRAYER FOR THE WEEK
O God who watches over all your precious little ones,
draw our eyes to those who are burdened by the
challenges of life. Amid shattered dreams and hopes,
may we see your face, hear your voice and love all
as you love us. Amen.
