Calvary Compass – April 21, 2026 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca

Dear Friends of Calvary,

This coming Sunday (April 26th),  is the Covenanting Service for the Shared Ministry at Riverside United Church at 4:30pm with a pot luck dinner afterwards. If you plan to stay for the pot luck supper afterwards, please let Kim know by Wednesday morning. Riverside needs to know how many to set up for. Calvary members are responsible for salads or side dishes.

There are a few events being sponsored by Wesley-Knox and a camp at Kee-Mo-Kee supported by Kilworth UC and Lambeth UC for you to check out that are listed in the Compass.

This is the last week of Kiwanis. The festival will take place in the sanctuary Wednesday afternoon and all-day Friday.

If you were wondering where the big pile of snow/sand/rocks in the parking lot went, the church's neighbour and a CHAMPION member plus the sun, have been slowly working at removing all of it. Thank you, Don!

WESLEY-KNOX CAMP SUMMER CAMP

Wesley-Knox has a tradition of a summer weekend getaway each year, and it's a favourite event of the summer. They would love to invite the Shared Ministries churches to join in!

It has been rebranded Shared Ministries Campout.

Friday, June 19th through Sunday, June 21st at Camp Bimini.

There are cabins available for the overnight stays and there is room for self-contained campers and tents.

Events will be crafts, swimming, hiking, campfires, a talent show, and lots of time to make new friends, relax, read your favourite book and be completely lazy! There is no hard schedule of activities so come be as busy or relaxed as you wish!

Sunday morning we will have a worship service in the outdoor chapel, and all are welcome! Join us for days only or for overnight.

We are also looking for anyone from any of the churches who would like to help plan the weekend, so it's truly a Shared Ministries Weekend for us all.

PROPOSED GARDEN CLEANUP

The proposed date for the garden cleanup is Thursday, May 7th. The rain date is Friday, May 8th. We will continue to clean up the sand in the parking lot.

PSALM FOR THE WEEK

Psalm 116: 1-2, 5-6 from the New International Version translation

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;

    he heard my cry for mercy.

Because he turned his ear to me,

    I will call on him as long as I live.

The Lord is gracious and righteous;

    our God is full of compassion.

The Lord protects the unwary;

    when I was brought low, he saved me.

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK

God of light and love,

Your Son makes known to those on the road to Emmaus upon breaking

bread and in sharing the good news of God’s kindom.  Open our eyes, that

we see Him the dawning of the new day. May we continue to

be those who provide love and peace to all those we encounter.

In His name we pray.  Amen.

Prayer focus for the week:  For the peacemakers in our community and around the world.
