Dear Friends of Calvary,

Rev. Kerry is away on vacation from August 23rd - September 9th. If you have need of Emergency Pastoral Care, please call the office and Kim or Nancy will contact the minister covering.

Kim Knowles will be taking vacation from August 29th - September 8th. She will be back in the church office on September 9th. While Kim is away, Nancy Hind will check for messages and the mail.

Sunday School classes will begin Sunday, September 7th.

The next edition of the Compass will be September 9th when we will re-start our weekly editions.

This coming Sunday, Mark Richardson will be our guest speaker. Bill Butt will be conducting the Sunday, September 7th service.

On Sunday, September 7th as a way to welcome everyone back, we are serving ice cream sundaes at our Coffee Hour in the lower hall. There will be different sauces and garnishes to go on your sundae.

Unfortunately, we have sad news to share. Christine Kussner passed away early Sunday morning. She and her husband Dick have been long-time members of Calvary and very involved in the Calvary Community. Christine was the secretary of Calvary’s UCW for many years. A Celebration of Life will take place at Calvary on Saturday, September 13 at 1pm.

During this time of sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with Dick and children Deb, Denise and Bryan and their loved ones.

VEGETARIAN HARVEST DINNER IN SUPPORT OF CANADIAN FOODGRAINS BANK

Calvary's Vegetarian Harvest Dinner in support of the CFGB will be held on Sunday, September 28 at 5 pm. This buffet meal will be prepared and served by the Outreach Committee and others in the Lower Hall.

Tickets are $20 for adults and free for children 10 years and under.

Tickets can be purchased from the church office, as well as during coffee hour after church in the Lower Hall on Sundays and at Tuckey's Home Hardware store in Wortley Village.

This dinner has sold out in the past so get your tickets early!

CHAMPION

CHAMPION will re-start their weekly Wednesday afternoon meetings on Wednesday, September 3rd. The meetings are from 1:00 - 3:30 pm. If you wish to play pickle ball before the meeting, the players meet at 11:00 am in the lower hall. Those 55 years old and older are welcome to join both CHAMPION and pickle ball.

If you would like an elderberry tree, please contact Kay Casler to discuss re-planting the tree in your yard.
