Calvary Compass – September 9, 2025 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca
Dear Friends of Calvary,
Rev. Kerry and Kim are both back from vacation. Kim will be working her regular hours - (Tuesdays - Thursday - 9:00 am - 12 Noon and 1:00 - 4:30 pm and Fridays - 9:00 am - 12 Noon)
Thank you to Bill Butt for his thoughtful worship services while Rev. Kerry was away. His slide presentations and words about our Indigenous neighbours during the Land Acknowledgement part of our service have been quite interesting and informative.
The Scouting and Guiding groups are back to using our lower hall for their activities starting this week.
The funeral for Christine Kussner will be at 1:00 pm in our sanctuary with a reception to follow this Saturday, September 13th. (Visitation is from 12 - 12:45 pm) Both Christine and Dick have been very much part of the life and work of Calvary for many years. The service will be live-streamed, which you can view by going to our YouTube channel:

Today, September 9th, is the last day to submit entries for the Catalyst to Kim Knowles. Thank you to Kim for putting it together and also to Fran Menard for proofreading it.
On Sunday, September 7th, as a way to welcome everyone back, we served ice cream sundaes at our Coffee Hour in the lower hall. Lots of ice cream was enjoyed!

Meetings this Week:
• CHAMPION – Wednesday - 1:00 -3:30 pm
Bible Study:
The next Bible Study will be Thursday, September 18th by Zoom.
Psalm for the Week:
Psalm 119: 65 -68 from the Common English Bible translation
You have treated your servant well,
Lord, according to your promise.
Teach me knowledge and good judgement
because I've put my trust in your commandments.
Before I suffered, I took the wrong way,
but now I do what you say.
You are good and you do good.
Teach me your statutes!
Prayer for the Week:
Loving and merciful God,
Your word is trustworthy and true.
Give us the humility to trust your
teaching instead of following our own
desires. Teach us the way and truth as we
share your way with others on our journey. Amen.
Prayer focus for this week: For those that are suffering from famine.
