Calvary Compass – June 10, 2025 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca
Dear Friends of Calvary,
Last weekend was a joyous time at Calvary. The Hymn Sing-a-long on Saturday was very memorable! The hymns that we sang encompassed all of the decades of the 100 years of the United Church of Canada. Several people from various churches were in attendance to enjoy and remember all of those wonderful hymns. Thank you to all who participated from the various churches in our combined choir, Ryan Baxter from Rowntree on the organ for our prelude, the amazing James Hibbard on the organ who played all of the hymns, the Reverends Owen, Noble, Prince and Stover for their prayers and words, Sonja Gustafson and the Jazz Vespers Quartet - Kevin Campbell, Larry Ernewein, Sandy MacKay and Ken McLagan. A very BIG Thank You goes to Rev. Kerry, James Hibbard and Kim Knowles who did a lot of the arranging of the program to make it a very memorable afternoon.
On Sunday after our worship service, most of the congregation attended Denise's Baby Shower and met beautiful Isla and Denise's husband Peter. Thank you to the choir for arranging the shower, providing food for the lunch and all those who donated the cookies and squares. For those who were unable to attend, many people donated towards a group gift of a toddler's car seat, gift cards (Walmart, Carters and Indigo) as well as diapers. There also were some lovely individual gifts from others. Some were even hand-made!
Rev. Michelle Owens from White Oaks will be our worship leader on Sunday. Rev. Kerry will be at Wesley-Knox this Sunday. We ask that the congregation wear name tags to help Rev. Michelle in learning your names. There will be a coffee time, following the service.

CANADIAN RED CROSS APPEAL TO SUPPORT WILDFIRE RELIEF
The Government of Canada and the Government of Manitoba will match donations to the Manitoba Wildfire Appeal from May 28 to June 27, 2025. Every $1 donated will become $3 to support the families and individuals most affected by the wildfires.
If you wish to help fellow Canadians during these devastating times, you can do so by donating at: give.redcross.ca. Donations received by June 27 will ensure that every dollar donated will be multiplied X3 to maximize your support to our neighbours in need.

Psalm for the Week:
Psalm 8: 1 -4 from the World English Bible translation
Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens!
From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength,
because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy
and avenger.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have ordained,
what is man, that you think of him?
What is the son of man, that you care for him?
Prayer for the Week:
Holy One!
You come to us as the Three-in-One: Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
setting an example
for how we are to treat our neighbours as well as our enemies.
Make us faithful always to you. Enable us to live with others by the
fruit of the spirit
as we live into love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness,
generosity and self-control.
May your hand always guide us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Prayer focus for the week: Remember all those that are in hospital.
