Calvary Compass – October 21, 2025 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca

Dear Friends of Calvary,

If you wish to make donations, the deadline for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank is this Sunday, October 26th and the London Community Chaplaincy Walk-A-Thon is also this Sunday.

Sad news to share with the Calvary community. On Saturday, October 18th, Dick Kussner died. When Dick was a youth, his family was sponsored by Calvary to come to Canada from Germany. Throughout the years, Dick has worked tirelessly in many facets of Calvary especially on the Property Committee. He will be missed and remembered by so many. We will advise you when we know about funeral arrangements.

Scripture Readings - Psalm 65,  Luke 18: 9-14

PSALM FOR THE WEEK:

Psalm 84: 1-4 from the New Revised Standard Version updated edition translation

How lovely is your dwelling place,

    O Lord of hosts!

My soul longs, indeed it faints,

    for the courts of the Lord;

my heart and my flesh sing for joy

    to the living God.

Even the sparrow finds a home

and the swallow a nest for herself,

where she may lay her young,

at your altars, O Lord of hosts,

    my King and my God.

Happy are those who live in your house,

    ever singing your praise.

 PRAYER FOR THE WEEK:

Loving and gracious God,

we give you thanks for caring and loving us

even when we stray from our sacred covenant with you.

Enable us to walk the way of Jesus with joy and humility,

so that our deeds testify to your love, justice, and peace. Amen.
